Antonio Oceguera
Las Flores del Mal

Antonio Oceguera´s work says to us that “stopping to smell the roses” is not just a figure of speech but a reminder that if we stop and not only smell but observe closely, life’s misteries will unfold before us. Flowers are an easy target, they have been the muse of poets and the company of lonesome hearts for centuries.
Antonio knows that and that flowers are also present in history, and a flower growing in a swamp alludes to the birth of Budha. in “paseo por teohtiuacan” he raises a delicate jasmin cluster up against the sky and with it he leads us by the hand to reflect, in ? a cluster of flowers intertwine and forn a vine that grows beyond the clouds and reaches for the sky. In all his works his aim is clearly spiritual, Antonio is no stranger to philosophical thought or to eastern religions, he studied civil engineering and literature at the Universidad de Guadalajara, he has traveled through Europe and India, these experiences weight heavy in his work and in the way he perceives his place in the world, Xaltemba Gallery is proud to present his work during the month of February.
